Daily News | Bayer set to buy Monsanto

The middle of the week is already here, which means that you only have half as much time to utilize everything that the currency market will throw at you. We are here for you, so that you can make the smartest trades out there, which is why, this Wednesday, we decided to focus on the euro. Yesterday, the currency fell from $1.1812 to $1.1756. This happened as the European Commission started a thorough investigation into the planned acquisition of US seeds group Monsanto by Bayer, worth $66 billion. If Bayer goes through with this, it would be the largest integrated pesticides and seeds company. The German company has stated that it is looking forward to the Commission’s approval of the deal, as it could potentially block it if they feel it would lead to a monopoly. We will continue to monitor this acquisition, but let us now turn to the US dollar. In the same period, the USD rose from €0.8465 to €0.8505. US shares were higher yesterday, with all three major indexes having one of the best one-day percentage gains in more than a week, as they were led by the technology sector. One of the largest gains was also in metal prices. We will continue to monitor market events in the future, so stick with us!
