Daily News | Brexit is moving forward

The latest news on the UK leaving the EU is coming from Germany and it seems that Brexit is moving forward, as German Chancellor Angela Merkel said that the talks are advancing. She made this comment on the first day of a European Union summit. Theresa May, UK’s Prime Minister, appealed to other leaders to help her silence critics coming from Britain. Merkel said that her impressions are that Brexit is moving forward step by step and that she has no doubts about a good outcome. Besides Merkel, there was another positive reaction. Joseph Muscat, the Prime Minister of Malta, said that May’s speech was her best performance yet. Ireland’s Leo Varadkar also supported Theresa May. However, the European Union is still looking for a stronger commitment from the UK when it comes to financial obligations connected to the country’s exit. We expect more information on the matter in the days to come.

Our second important piece of news comes from Japan. It seems that the country’s financial regulator (the Financial Services Agency) is concerned about the situation with some regional banks. The agency will inspect several of them, with a special emphasis on their business model, a move that could affect Japanese shares and the position of the yen.
