Daily News | Massive Uber cover-up

Hello and welcome to our latest news recap from the world of business and finance. We have to start things off with a massive Uber cover-up that was actually confirmed by the company itself yesterday. Personal information of more than 57 million clients and partners was exposed during this security breach back in October 2016, but what is maybe even more shocking is that the company paid 100,000 USD to hackers in order to keep the news about this event from reaching the public. This Uber cover-up was eventually discovered and the persons responsible for that have been fired by the company. This was all confirmed by Dara Khosrowshahi, Uber’s CEO, who took over the position from Travis Kalanick in August and who says that he was unaware of the incident until very recently.

In other news, oil prices have gone up between one and two percent, primarily because Canada cut its delivery of crude oil to the United States. In addition to that, a production cut from OPEC is also expected, which also had a role to play in this spike. As a matter of fact, this OPEC cut could be a long one, so we could very well see oil prices continuously rising in the near future. For more on that, keep following our market news every day.
